Wuxi No.2 People’s Hospital
The Wuxi No. 2 People's Hospital, founded in 1908, is a tertiary general hospital. It is home to the Wuxi Red Cross Hospital, the Wuxi Geriatric Hospital, the Wuxi Clinical College of Nantong University, the Wuxi Neurosurgery Institute, and the Wuxi Clinical Laboratory Center. The hospital hosts the National Chest Pain Center, the National Advanced Stroke Center, the Center for the Treatment of Critically Ill Pregnant Women and Postpartum Care, a training center for endoscopy, a national postdoctoral research station, five provincial and municipal research stations, and the Shanghai Fudan University Zhongshan Hospital - Wuxi No. 2 People's Hospital Collaboration Center.
The hospital consists of two campuses. The southern campus is located at No. 68 Zhongshan Road, the northern campus at No. 585 Xinyuan North Road. The combined campuses have a total of 1,800 beds. The hospital has 2,437 employees, 679 of whom have senior professional and technical qualifications, 120 of whom are doctors, including 15 post-docs. 18 of Jiangsu Province key clinical specialties are present (Cardiovascular Medicine, Ophthalmology, Neurosurgery, Dermatology, Urology, Otolaryngology, General Surgery, Hepatobiliary surgery, Orthopedics, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Oncology, Intensive Care Medicine, Anesthesiology， Clinical Laboratory, Radiology, Pathology, Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine. There are one provincial medical key discipline (Neurosurgery), one municipal clinical medical center (Urology), one municipal medical key discipline (Neurosurgery), one municipal medical development discipline (General Surgery), five municipal medical innovation teams (Ophthalmology, Anesthesiology, Critical Care Medicine, Otolaryngology, Gastroenterology), two municipal medical innovation teams (Pharmacy Department, Cardiovascular Medicine), and eight municipal clinical key specialties (Emergency Medicine, Rheumatology, Geriatrics, Endocrinology, Stomatology, Hematology, Nephrology, Pharmacy Department).
In the past five years, the hospital has won the first Jiangsu Provincial Government Science and Technology Progress Award, as well as 27 national, provincial and municipal science and technology awards; it received 44 awards for introduction of new medical technologies in Jiangsu Province, including 8 first-class awards and 36 second-class awards; 3 Wuxi City Soaring Awards, the highest award issued by the Wuxi Municipal People's Government; 15 national projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and 326 provincial and municipal research projects. In total, the hospital's team has published 19 medical monographs as the editor-in-chief/associate editor; 3,138 professional papers, including 404 SCI-indexed papers and 539 Chinese level papers, and been approved for 704 public patents.
